How to Generate a Sitemap with Screaming Frog and Upload It to Zoho Sites (Plus Submit It to Google Search Console)

SEO isn’t just for content marketers anymore. If you're running a business and trying to grow your online presence, making sure Google understands your website is non-negotiable.

One of the first (and easiest) wins? Creating and submitting a sitemap.

Here’s how to do that using Screaming Frog, Zoho Sites, and Google Search Console — step by step.

Jameson Demonstrates This Quick SEO Win for Zoho Sites

Step 1: Generate Your Sitemap with Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog is a website crawler that makes generating a sitemap surprisingly easy — even if you’re not an SEO pro.

What You’ll Need:
  • Screaming Frog (free up to 500 URLs): Download it here
  • Your website URL

🧭 How to Do It:
  1. Open Screaming Frog and paste your website URL into the top bar.
  2. Click “Start” to crawl your site.
  3. Once complete, go to Sitemaps > XML Sitemap in the top menu.
  4. Check the boxes for the pages you want indexed (usually all HTML pages, not PDFs or redirects).
  5. Click “Next,” then save your sitemap file — it will download as sitemap.xml.

Step 2: Upload the Sitemap to Zoho Sites

Zoho Sites has a built in sitemap tool for you to upload your sitemap.xml file.

How to Upload Your Sitemap to Zoho Sites:
  1. Once in your site on Zoho Sites, navigate to Configuration > SEO > Sitemap
  2. Ensure the Upload sitemap.xml option is enabled
  3. Select Upload File and choose the desired sitemap.xml file from your storage
  4. From here, click Access sitemap.xml at the URL https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

You have now updated the sitemap for your Zoho Sites website and its ready to point google in the right direction with the final step.

Step 3: Submit the Sitemap in Google Search Console

This is the part that tells Google:
“Hey! Here's a clean list of all the pages on my site — come crawl them!”

🔧 How to Do It:
  1. Visit Google Search Console
  2. Select your website property, or start by typing in your website domain to add it to your profile
  3. On the left, click “Sitemaps”
  4. Under “Add a new sitemap,” paste the path to your sitemap (https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml) Note: if you encounter an error, you might need to add "www." prior to your domain name.
  5. Click Submit

✅ Google will now begin crawling your site using this new sitemap!

🔍 Why This Matters for SEO

A sitemap is like a cheat sheet for Google. It tells the search engine exactly what pages exist, where they live, and how to prioritize them.

  • Prevents important pages from being missed
  • Improves indexing for dynamic sites built on platforms like Zoho Sites

If your site is built with tools like Zoho Sites — and especially if you're a growing business — setting up a sitemap is a foundational step that gets your tech stack and your traffic working in sync.

This is the kind of operational win that makes scaling easier. Whether it’s SEO setup, CRM automation, or back-end workflows, we help growing businesses build better systems with Zoho — without drowning in tech.
