If you've ever had to manually update the same picklist across multiple modules in Zoho CRM, you know how tedious it can be.
Need to add a new Lead Source like “Bluesky” to every module? You go into Leads. Then Contacts. Then Deals. Then Campaigns. Then… lose your mind.
Good news: with Global Sets in Zoho CRM, you never have to do that again.

What Are Global Sets in Zoho CRM?
Global Sets allow you to create a single picklist definition and apply it across multiple modules in your CRM. That way, when you update the options in one place, the change appears everywhere that picklist is used.
It’s a simple update — but it can save your team tons of time and ensure consistency in your data.
How to Create a Global Set in Zoho CRM
Here’s how to set one up from scratch:
- Go to Setup > Modules & Fields
- Click the Global Sets tab
- Click Create Global Set
- Add a name and the picklist options (for example: your Lead Source list)
- Hit Save
Now, whenever you create a new picklist field, you can select this Global Set to apply the same values.
How to Apply a Global Set to Existing Fields
Already have picklists in your modules? You can convert them too:
- Go to the picklist field’s Properties
- Click Convert to Global Set
- Choose the Global Set you want to use
- Save
All changes to that picklist will now be controlled from the Global Set panel.
When to Use Global Sets
Use Global Sets when you:
- Have the same field across multiple modules (Lead Source, Status, Region, etc.)
- Want to ensure consistency across reports, filters, or automation
- Need a centralized place to update dropdown values
- Are trying to reduce manual updates and maintenance in CRM
They’re perfect for teams with multiple departments, long picklists, or recurring updates to dropdowns.
Things to Keep in Mind
- There’s a limit to the number of Global Sets you can have:
- For Enterprise plans, it’s currently 15 Global Sets per org
- You’ll need to be an admin or have customization permissions to set them up
- Only works with picklist fields — not multi-select or lookup fields
Bottom Line
Zoho CRM Global Sets are a small feature that make a big impact.
They streamline your data management, reduce duplicate work, and keep your CRM clean and consistent.
If you’ve got the same picklist in more than one place — and we all do — you should probably be using Global Sets.
