What the feature does
Zoho’s help documentation describes it simply: when writing formula expressions gets tricky, Zia can generate a working expression from your natural language description and insert it directly into the Formula Expression box.
This is especially useful when you are building:
- Conditional logic (IF, nested IF)
- Date and time calculations (aging, SLA timers)
- Math with fallbacks (null checks and default values)
- Output fields that power dashboards and automation
Zoho also calls this out in CRM release notes as Zia generated formula expressions that can handle complex expressions quickly.
Where to find it in Zoho CRM
You will see it while creating a Formula Field in the Layout Editor, inside the Formula Expression section. Look for the button labeled Generate Formula Expression.

- Zia generates the expression
- You preview and validate the result
- Click Insert Formula, then edit if needed and save
