Add Live Chat to Your Website with Zoho SalesIQ
If people have questions on your website and your only option is a contact form… you’re losing leads.
Live chat closes the gap between “I’m interested” and “I’m gone.” Zoho SalesIQ is built for this: you install a chat widget on your site, configure a few settings so it feels professional, then route chats to the right person.
This post covers the SalesIQ live chat baseline you actually need.

What we are setting up
By the end, you will have:
- The SalesIQ widget installed and visible on your site
- Basic branding so it looks like your business, not a random chat box
- A simple welcome message
- A lightweight pre-chat form that collects the essentials
- Business hours and an offline message
- Chat routing so messages go to you or your team
Step 1: Install the SalesIQ chat widget
Zoho’s installation flow starts by selecting your brand in SalesIQ and copying the website embed code snippet, then placing it on your site. (help.zoho.com)
- Open Zoho SalesIQ
- Go to Settings then Brands (or Installation, depending on your view)
- Choose your website or brand
- Copy the embed code snippet
- Paste it into your website HTML, usually right before </body> (help.zoho.com)
Platform notes
If you use a platform like Zoho Sites, WordPress, or Shopify, install the snippet in the platform’s custom code area instead of editing raw HTML.
- Zoho Sites has a direct integration flow to connect SalesIQ and publish your site for it to go live. (help.zoho.com)
After you publish, open your site and confirm the chat bubble appears.
Step 2: Configure the “don’t be weird” basics
This is the part that makes the widget feel professional.
Chat widget appearance
In SalesIQ widget settings, update:
- Widget name, like Chat with TechnoMap
- Optional logo if you want it branded
Simple always wins. The goal is trust, not design awards.
Welcome message
Add a welcome message that is friendly and clear.
Example:
Hi there. Got a question Tell me what you are working on.
If you want to match the exact vibe from the video, keep it casual, but avoid overdoing it. The chat should feel like a helpful front desk, not a stand-up routine.
Pre-chat form (keep it light)
Turn on a pre-chat form that asks for:
- Name
That is enough to follow up even if the visitor disappears.
Avoid asking for 12 fields. Long forms kill chats before they start.
Step 3: Business hours and routing
Set business hours
Set your working hours so SalesIQ knows when to treat chats as live versus offline.
Add an offline message
Example:
We are offline right now. Leave a message and we will reply ASAP.
This keeps leads from bouncing when you are not online.
Assign who receives chats
Decide where chats go:
- You, if you are solo
- A team or channel if multiple people handle messages
Routing matters because an unanswered live chat is worse than no live chat.
Quick testing checklist
Before you call it done:
- Visit your site in an incognito window and confirm the widget loads
- Start a test chat and confirm you receive it where expected
- Test outside business hours and confirm the offline message triggers
- Submit the pre-chat form and confirm you capture the email
The Short Version
That is the SalesIQ live chat baseline:
- Installed
- Branded
- Welcome message set
- Pre-chat form kept simple
- Business hours configured
- Chats routed to the right person
