Use Zia in Zoho Writer to Improve Grammar, Tone, and Style

Zia Roasted My Proposal (But Made It Better)

I was wrapping up a client proposal. It had all the right ideas… but the tone? The grammar? The vibe? A hot mess.

And then Zia popped up inside Zoho Writer and said (not in so many words, but still):

“This is a mess, babe.”

Rude. Accurate. Exactly what I needed.

Zia, the AI Editor Inside Zoho Writer

As I was typing, Zia started doing her thing:
  • Flagged awkward phrasing
  • Cleaned up grammar and punctuation
  • Highlighted passive voice
  • Suggested stronger, more concise verbs
  • And—this part kinda hurt—told me my tone was “formal and distant”

I rewrote a few lines using her suggestions, changed the tone to sound more like me, and the final version? Way better.

What Zia Can Do in Zoho Writer

Zia is Zoho’s AI-powered assistant, and inside Zoho Writer, she helps you polish your writing in real time. Here’s what she does:
  • Grammar and spelling checks
  • Readability and sentence structure feedback
  • Tone detection (friendly, professional, casual, distant, etc.)
  • Smart rewriting suggestions
  • Context-aware edits (based on document type or audience)

Whether you’re writing a proposal, onboarding guide, blog draft, or internal doc—Zia’s got your back.

How to Use Zia in Zoho Writer

It’s built right in. Here’s how to use it:

Step 1: Open Zoho Writer and Start Typing
Create a new document or open an existing one. As you type, Zia starts analyzing in the background. You’ll see underlines appear for:

  • Grammar fixes (blue)
  • Style and clarity edits (green)
  • Tone issues (yellow/gray highlights)

Step 2: Click on Suggestions to Review

Zia will suggest edits for:

  • Wordy phrases
  • Overly complex sentences
  • Awkward transitions
  • Weak verbs or passive constructions
  • Inconsistent tone
You can accept, dismiss, or edit each suggestion with one click.

Step 3: Use “Rewrite with Zia” for Instant Help
If a sentence feels clunky but you’re not sure why, highlight it and click “Rewrite with Zia.”

You’ll get 2–3 improved versions you can pick from (or use as inspiration).

You can also adjust tone—e.g. make it more friendly, concise, or persuasive—depending on the document’s purpose.

Where I Use It Most

Zia has become my go-to second pair of eyes for:
  • Proposals
  • Training documents
  • Onboarding emails
  • Website copy
  • Internal SOPs
  • Blog outlines (hi, this one)

Basically, anything that leaves my brain and ends up in front of a client gets a Zia pass first.
